Stephen L. Rosedale

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, entrepreneur Stephen Rosedale spent two years in the U.S. Army. He served a tour of Vietnam as a rifleman and later an information specialist in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart.
After discharge, Steve attended Brandeis Graduate School in the Department of Sociology, where he studied under Professor Morris Schwartz (Tuesdays with Morrie). Here, he studied the concept of milieu therapy, which formed the basis of the CommuniCare operating philosophy called the "Caring Community." This is the impact of a holistic environment composed of people, clinical programs, emerging technologies, and physical environments that create a healing environment where a person can thrive. With more than 40 years as a visionary and leader in the caregiving industry, Steve has been on a mission to build caring communities that cater to CommuniCare's residents and their families' unspoken needs.
Steve's research on Alzheimer's disease led to the opening of CommuniCare's Burlington House Rehabilitation and Alzheimer's Care Center in 1991. Steve's traumatic brain injury involvement came about through a family experience that led him into a passionate sense of mission with healthcare organizations. The experience led him to become president of the Ohio Head Injury Association and co-founder and first chairman of the Head Injury Advisory Council. With today’s current medical technology, Steve can focus his attention on his presidential duties with the Ohio Head Injury Association and more.
Steve has served on many boards within the Jewish Community of Cincinnati, including Adath Israel Synagogue, Yavneh Day School, Cincinnati Hebrew Day School, Jewish National Fund, Halom House, Association of Jewish Outreach Professionals (AJOP), the Council of Jewish Life and Learning of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, the Jewish Family Service. He was a founder and first president of the Cincinnati Community Kollel. Steve is married and has five married sons and many wonderful grandchildren.
